SPRAY PAINTING/ 390 Hours

Objective:

The Spray Painter course is designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to apply paint, coatings, and finishes using spray techniques safely and efficiently. Participants will learn surface preparation, paint mixing, spray application, equipment handling, and finishing techniques while adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards. On completion, learners will be competent to perform spray painting tasks in industrial, automotive, or construction environments.

Theory:

  • Introduction to spray painting and its applications

  • Types of paints, coatings, and finishes

  • Surface preparation techniques (cleaning, sanding, priming)

  • Paint mixing ratios and consistency

  • Spray painting equipment overview (spray guns, compressors, nozzles)

  • Safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Health and environmental regulations related to painting

  • Understanding paint defects and troubleshooting techniques

  • Color matching and blending principles

  • Maintenance and care of spray painting equipment

Practical:

  • Setting up the spray painting area safely

  • Preparing surfaces for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking)

  • Correctly mixing paints for application

  • Handling and operating spray guns efficiently

  • Applying paint evenly on flat, curved, and complex surfaces

  • Practicing different spray techniques (horizontal, vertical, circular)

  • Achieving smooth finishes and avoiding common defects

  • Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment after use

  • Performing quality checks on painted surfaces

  • Applying protective coatings or finishes as required
