BUILDING ELECTRICIAN/ 390 Hours

Objective:

The Building Electrician course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Participants will learn electrical theory, wiring techniques, safety procedures, and troubleshooting methods. Upon completion, learners will be competent to work safely and efficiently on electrical installations while adhering to national and international safety standards.

Theory:

  • Introduction to electricity and electrical systems

  • Understanding electrical circuits, voltage, current, and resistance

  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and blueprints

  • Electrical components: switches, outlets, circuit breakers, and panels

  • Types of wiring methods and cabling systems

  • Safety regulations, standards, and use of PPE

  • Installation standards for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings

  • Electrical testing instruments and measurement techniques

  • Troubleshooting electrical faults and problem-solving methods

  • Energy efficiency, conservation, and environmental considerations

Practical:

  • Preparing tools, equipment, and work area safely

  • Installing wiring systems, switches, sockets, and lighting fixtures

  • Connecting electrical panels and circuit breakers

  • Testing and measuring electrical circuits for continuity and safety

  • Identifying and repairing electrical faults

  • Installing protective devices (fuses, RCDs, MCBs) correctly

  • Following proper earthing and bonding procedures

  • Working with residential and commercial electrical layouts

  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations during all tasks

  • Maintaining electrical tools, equipment, and components
